What’s it like at Newton Grange Cottages in Bank Newton?
Well, we love it! These are the things that make it a really special place and a beautiful setting.
There are gorgeous, stone built, listed buildings, and they are surrounded by rolling green pastures (the drumlin hills) where our sheep flock graze. The Grade II listed Newton Grange Farmhouse dates from approximately 1780 and is in Georgian in character.
Surrounding the farmhouse, holiday cottages and farm buildings there is an abundance of space. Our 240 acre working sheep farm is grassland and the paddocks immediately surrounding the cottages are popular with families and children playing out.
Then there’s the pretty, and ever so wildlife-rich, section of the Leeds Liverpool Canal that weaves in and out encasing our farmland. It is perfect for a morning or evening stroll or for those keen on birdspotting, as wildlife is plentiful.
The setting and location of Newton Grange Cottages is a brilliant base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park and nearby market town of Skipton. It is also a place ‘just to be’. Somewhere that you can sit down and slow down and savour some time out.
We have a large sheep flock on the farm. It’s not long to go until lambing time now (the first lambs usually arrive in the middle of March). This always signals the start of springtime in my mind.
What with spring flowers, growth in the grassland, a change in the clocks and the hope and promise of milder weather, it is the season in which the farm comes to life. Spring is my personal favourite time of the year and especially as daylight hours increase each day.
So that’s the setting and location of Newton Grange Cottages. We have six delightful holiday cottages that are stone-built and beautifully appointed. Please do browse the collection and let us know if you have a bespoke request or any questions. Our telephone number is 01756 748140.
