1st August – it’s Yorkshire Day!

Tomorrow marks the First Day of August – Yorkshire Day. It’s a time to celebrate the wonderful county that we live in. As celebrations commence throughout the county, here is a flavour of the events taking place to mark the occasion.

Sunflowers

The official Yorkshire Day celebrations are taking place in Sheffield.

In Halifax, the Piece Hall will be re-opened following an extensive conservation and transformation programme there.

At Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate there are events for all the family from 10am until 3pm. Don’t miss out on the Adventure Games at 1pm. There will be flat cap throwing, a Yorkshire Pudding and spoon race, and a Yorkshire Tea relay race.

In Ilkley, there is the launch of Ilkley’s Summer Festival. The Phoenix Jazz Band will be playing and marching around the town. You could join a social walk departing from the Cow and Calf Rocks at 10am, with a drink at Dick Hudson’s Country Inn.
